Bringing safe drinking water and sanitation facilities to remote communities that walk hours each day to reach a water source.
Thousands of families in remote villages have no access to a safe water source. Women and children spend up to five hours a day collecting water that is often contaminated, leading to preventable disease and keeping children out of school.
This project drills and rehabilitates boreholes, installs hand pumps and household filters, and trains local water committees to maintain them for the long term. Every water point is paired with a hygiene programme so the health gains last.
What to expect
- Provide 20 new protected water points across 12 villages
- Reach 8,000 people with safe drinking water within 12 months
- Train 24 community members to repair and maintain pumps
- Cut waterborne illness in target villages by half

Why this project matters
To give every household in the target villages a protected water point within a 15-minute walk, and to keep those water points working through trained local committees.
Around 8,000 people across 12 villages, with priority given to households headed by women and families with children under five.
Every water point has a local maintenance committee, a stock of spare parts, and a small user fund so repairs happen quickly without outside help.
